A sort of serious but silly sounding question - I've seen that people sell dehydrated and freeze dried eggs on Etsy (and likely other places) so I've been wondering: are there any farmers who raise their chickens consistently around barn cats and are selling dehydrated egg yolks?
For context, I unexpectedly ended up with a cat this summer, it was a hard summer for rescuers where I live and I planned on just fostering him - fully aware that I was allergic and knowing that my symptoms were manageable with antihistamines - but we weren't able to find him a home and alas, poor little dude is stuck with me for the remainder of his nine lives.
When it was becoming obvious that he was going to stay with me for a while I started feeding him Purina LiveClear so that I could reduce my antihistamine intake and so far it's been working wonderfully for me (my bouts of allergy symptoms are few and far between without any medicine and it's been like that for a month now) but as he is officially My Cat now, I have to also think about his health in the long run and I would really like to be able to make more informed decisions about his diet without being so restricted (I'm feeling super guilty that he is sentenced to eating dry food with suboptimal nutritional value because it makes me not choke to death, basically). Long story short, I wanna try DIY-ing and figure out something that works for both of us, especially as I would really like to get him a sibling so that he can thrive.
(Another reason is that I try to avoid giving money to Nestle if not absolutely neccessary so an alternative would be swell)

Kaffeereise: London

Wow Low E.
I've learned that we now have a medical condition called "LOW E". Know what it is? Low Energy. Yep, you got no pep in your step? You might have LOW E. My dad would have addressed my Low E with a Kick in the A. I identify Low E as "Big Lazy". Wonder if I could get a medic alert bracelet for when I have a LOW E day. I know from watching celebrities like Doug Flutie on TV many men have LOW T. I asked my wife if she was happy with my "T" Level. I got a double thumbs up.  Why is it that everything these days needs a cool nickname? Let me throw out a couple that you can feel free to use. Let's start with Vegans, which I would like to label "Picky Eaters". Doesn't sound cool, but a picky eater is what you are. We all have a friend who is not an idiot, but always seems to make stupid choices. I'm for giving that individual the label of suffering from (S.C.S.). That stands for Stupid Choice Syndrome. You have that pal who was in the top ten in his graduating class. Was accepted to some major colleges with scholarships but decided to pass on that and open up a Quilting Business out of his parent's garage. Yep, he suffers from Stupid Choice Syndrome. Everything has a new twist to how it's perceived. I see ads for Fertility Clinics.  Wow, people struggling to have a baby. When I grew up the fertility drug of choice was alcohol. I remember my uncle giving an educational chat to us kids during a family gathering about the birds and the bees. The story involved a few beers, birds and bees, and the bird removing its Bra.  (I didn't even know birds wore bras.  I took up the hobby of bird watching for a few weeks after his talk.) Don't hear that style of educational education any longer. I have taken notice of how many celebrity spokespeople are blending their foods. We can now purchase a portable blender to pack with us to make healthy smoothies while on the go. Sorry if this makes me a smoothie snob but if I have a smoothie it must be topped with Reddi-Whip. I don't think I could conveniently carry a blender and can of Reddi-Whip. I have a friend that only eats Free Range Eggs. Quizzed her as to why? What's your deal? Says she only wants to eat eggs from chickens that have been working out. So I asked "So you want eggs from a bird that's been jogging and pumping iron." She said I was making it sound weird, but yeah. No worries I told her. It's a fact that each of us knows one weirdo. You're now mine. She then asked if I had any unusual food quirks. I confessed I am extremely devoted to all the coffee mate Seasonal Flavors.  I've mentioned to my daughters if they have any more girls I'm for naming them Pumpkin Spice or Peppermint Mocha.

The worst time line in which you buy a more luxury version of an item you always get is when it's actually so much better and you start to justify spending more on it

Animal Justice Project claims that far from roaming freely, “these hens were trapped within overcrowded sheds with their basic needs neglected”. The rules also state that farms can house up to 2,500 birds per hectare. But the organisation says that in reality, that means up to 16,000 hens can be crammed into a shed.
That equates to nine hens per square metre – or the equivalent of putting 14 people in a one-bedroom flat. As a result of the Animal Justice Project probe, the RSPCA suspended the three farms from its assurance scheme, pending an investigation, saying it was “extremely concerned” by the “upsetting” footage.

Bryan Danielson returns in 2028 for Mark Briscoe's retirement run and they have the most Serious and Intense Feud of all Time.
Screaming, all out brawls for honor, glory, and righteousness, dead set in believing the other is in the wrong in his ways of doing things.
Those who expect a question about their number of championships or best ROH runs are shocked and bewildered at the bloodshed and mayhem taking place before them over the best chicken breeds and appropriate methods for their care and keeping.

I wish I could have chickens! They are adorable little dinosaurs. But I currently live in an apartment and landlords are so picky about pets if they are allowed at all. So if I ever get the opportunity to I would like to have chickens.
I love birds in general honestly! Chickens are the one I’m most interested in probably because I live in rural farm area ™️
They're wonderful little guys! If you're ever able to get a bit of land they're great for eggs, controlling bugs, compost, and just general entertainment haha. When they're well taken care of it's wild how much better backyard chicken eggs are compared to commercial, I'm still thrown off when I see pale yellow yolks cause I'm like. You're supposed to be bright orange lol

if your long term eating disorder treatment clinic doesn't include teaching people to prepare and cook food i feel like you're setting many patients up for failure. many people with EDs were raised by people with EDs, and public schools (in the US at least) have almost entirely discarded cooking education.
when i moved in with my bf, who spent time inpatient several years ago, there was hardly anything in his fridge besides, like, cauliflower "rice". & it wasn't just because his ED made it difficult to buy food: he didn't know what to buy! i'd ask what his parents made growing up and they didn't. his mom's ED is worse than his & his dad considered "plain ground beef fried in a pan" to be a "meal."
add that diet culture is pervasive in mainstream food education. even normal-seeming cookbooks will describe some recipes as "guilt free" here and there. influencers are obviously even worse. to avoid it you have to know where to look, and for someone in a vulnerable state of mind, it's far easier to not look at all.
this led my bf to cooking the same few things with the same overpriced ingredients day in and out. he also ordered out, or bought preprepped meals, but he couldn't always afford that, and went hungry the rest of the time. he knew, from treatment, that fats are necessary, that sugars are necessary, that carbs are necessary. but without any knowledge on HOW to incorporate these foods in his diet, he just didn't.
& it seems like such a natural thing to include in treatment. you want to desensitize people to being around food? you want to give them positive experiences with food, including social activities like eating as a group? well, why not cook as a group? have a day when we all make cookies or a big stew! or cook 1-on-1 with your therapist during a session sometimes! install a stove, sink and fridge into their office, follow a recipe together, TEACH! you can't just tell people to incorporate all the macronutrients into their diets without telling them HOW!
